After Math
Before reading this book, my thought on fast food have truthfully been that they are nothing more than large monopolies than target and mislead use Americans along with the rest of the world. While reading this book it's hard to decide whether or not that it is all true, or it's just a exaggeration of what it actually is. Eric told how bloody and how cruelly the animals are treated. The day after reading this we watched a video in Ag class about how the slaughter houses use calming methods to kill the cattle. They make sure that the cattle die fast and with little pain. So, my mind has not changed but now I don't think I could eat there at all. With the control of fast food on our society has become a nation wide, negative affect. Now instead of people staying home to cook meals that are healthy, they go to a fast food place and eat with no health value at all. Our nation's obesity problem mainly starts at eat at these places. That and it has made our society lazier than ever. People spend every meal there and spend hundreds a month. Overall it is a negative affect for our nation and the world.

Slaughtering Replacing Butchering
When you go to the store and buy a package of meat, do you ever sit and think of were that meat came from? In Fast Food Nation it states how hundreds of thousands of cattle are slaughter and processed in slaughterhouses across our nation. Workers that work eight hours every day in highly dangerous conditions. As one worker said, "They told us if one hand is no good, then use the other." People that worked there would say to put your pant legs in your shoes or boots so that you won't get blood on them from the floor. Picture walking through it and have your pants soaked in blood thick enough so you can't see the floor.
They now use electricity to kill the animals as a way to mass kill. The workers would say, "All you hear is the pop, pop, pop, pop from the shockers." which allowed the company to speed up the line and produce even more. You walk across the factory floor dodging handing halves of beef fly through the air and "if you get hit", one worker told, "you would out cold or worse." The everyday local meat house is no longer what American relies on. Now it is these meat giants supply every store, restaurant, dinner, and schools. What used to be a high pay, high skilled job has now been turned around and has basically become a monopoly for the meat market. Yet, we as Americans continue to live our lives, buy meat at store instead of at the local butchers, unaware of what our nation has become. What people are kept from knowing, and we may never know or care. But this book and these chapters made me rethink our society and what it has become. We should be ashamed of it and try to fix it, but it keeps getting further and further out of hand. Our society is now controlled by the big companies and no one will try to stand up to them and just simply say no more.

Food Findings
To me now that I know what the flavors are made of you can never rely of the smell that hits your knows. That ooh that smells good smell can never be trusted now that I have read this book.
While going through only some of the foods in my house, I was able to find many foods in which amazingly surprised me about whether or not they had artificial or natural flavors. For instance Prego not Ragu has all natural flavor while Ragu had both. Lipton ice tea mix depends on what you but. The regular had artificial while the diet had both natural and artificial flavoring. Ginger Ale was guessed to have artificial but when I read the label it turns out to be all natural flavors. The foods that people portray as have artificial flavors sometimes surprise you and end up having all natural and vice versa.

Surprised
Towards the beginning of the book Fast Food Nation it continued to be boring and hopping around from subject to subject. However, during the third the author states how the McDonald company cheats their employees by not paying their overtime and sometimes even "forcing them to work on their own time." They have even threatened to close down restaurants if anyone tries to unionize against the company. For instance in the book they closed down a McDonald in Canada because the employees had tried to form a union and then opened another just down the block from the old one. They hired all new employees. These chapters have infuriated me and now despise any and all McDonald restaurant.

Reaction
As the book when along, I hypothesized that they would make a stake and get their farm. However, at the end of I had no idea that George would have the heart to kill Lennie. Lennie was doing so well and didn't do anything bad. He had a good role going until Curley's wife wreck it for him. Truthfully, books were the main characters get killed I don't find entertaining. This was different. I liked how the author made it seem that dying was the farm they where they were going to go. Overall it was very amusing and I loved reading it.

Characters Compared to day's people
Every person in the book Of Mice and Men can be compared to people in today's society. Their personality can be related to someone that we know. For instance Curley could be the neighborhood trouble maker that goes around causes trouble. Every character can do this. Lennie can be associated with the people and kids with mental set backs and have trouble learning or understanding. George is the person who helps and tries to work hard for he wants such as the guy that goes and tills everyone else's garden, mows their lawns, does their yard work, and every else that he make a buck from. Crook is the person who no one looks or listens to. He's the guy who sits in his house and you never see. The person who everyone looks up to and every likes would be Slim. Candy fits in as the old retired folk that helps were he can such as the people at the grocery store that carry out your bags.
The rest of the workers in the book are the people that make our city tick. They make it run smoothly and work hard to keep that way. Examples would be everyday folks that go to work every day, the people that work at the gas station, the grocery store, firefighters, police, doctors, and etc. The author does this so that the reader can relate to the story and helps them understand the feelings of the characters.
